Why Video Marketing Is So Hot (And Deadly Effective)
I was just thinking about the fact that of all the media that I use to advertise that’s free-we’re talking Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, MySpace (which I’ve used in the past), LinkedIn-these are all great resources, but it really boils down to one thing: What gets me the most results? Video.
And I was thinking, “Why in the world does video produce so much income for me? Every month? Free? You know, I’m a people-person. (You probably could already tell that, and if you couldn’t, well, I’m telling you.) I enjoy people. I just really enjoy talking to people. And when I’ve got a video camera in front of me, I don’t feel nervous or jittery. I don’t know why you would. A lot of people tell me, those who join my coaching every week, “Wow! You mean, you want me to shoot videos?” Yeah. You want to make a lot of money, right? “Yeah. But I’m not sure I could do that.” Well, why not? I mean, if you have a problem talking with people or you’ve got something to hide, I can see that. But I’ve nothing to hide; I’m very transparent.
So for me, it’s like you and I are having a conversation right here though I’m doing this in an article at the moment. But that is the beauty of marketing online-you get to leverage one piece of content and then let that work for you over and over.
Doing video is great because people can feel like they get to know you a little bit without actually getting to know you. That’s how I got started when I first came online. I found my mentor through video and I just made a connection with the guy, and I still have a very good relationship with him up to now. But if I hadn’t seen those videos, I wouldn’t have joined him. It wasn’t because I wouldn’t join him personally, but there would have been no level of trust or relationship. I’m a relationship kind of guy and I want to feel like I can trust somebody, not just on the phone.
But you can tell a lot about a person when you see them on one of their videos and look them in the eye. People routinely will call me and say, “Brian, you know, I feel like you’re genuine. You seem trustworthy.”
Well, I appreciate that, well, because it’s true. I sleep well at night because I don’t rip people off. I coach and develop people to help them create the lifestyle they’ve been dreaming of.
