How To Build Trust through Video Marketing
One of the top goals of marketing is to build trust between a company and the customer base. Video Marketing is no different from other forms of marketing in this regard. In fact, you could say that video is really just a tool that marketers use to help them establish trust with their customers and with potential customers as well.
We live in a media savvy generation. People understand that photographs can be manipulated with programs like Photoshop. They understand that no matter what point you are trying to make, you will be able to find statistics and experts to support what you say. And they get the fact that in the quest for the almighty dollar companies often make promises they can’t keep. Therefore earning their trust is going to take diligence and hard work. Here are some ideas you can think about that will help you in your effort to build that trust through your video marketing.
First, while people might recognize the face of a celebrity, and you might think that a celebrity endorsement will give you the boost you need, in reality the opinion of a family member, friend or member of the community in which they live means more than the opinion of a well known celebrity. So don’t get caught up in the idea that you have to collect a testimonial from someone with star power. The recommendation of a regular looking fellow in jeans and dusty boots who is familiar with your company because he is a regular customer, will go further than a top dollar actress who is endorsing you because of the check you promised to write at the conclusion of the taping.
Second, don’t be afraid to talk about yourself. Sharing the story of how your business came to be makes you sound like a real person. Tell them about the things you envision for the future of your company. Let them get to know you, how you think and the things you value, and you will get them to feel a connection with you. This type of connection is a good way to build trust because you cross the bridge from being just one more salesman to being a real person who wants to help them solve their problem.
Third, give examples of how your company can solve real problems for real people. It is likely that it was a problem that brought each new visitor to your site. Take a moment and turn things around. Imagine yourself with a problem. You are feeling in over your head and you have turned to the internet to help you find a solution. Do you want to waste your time listening to some spokesperson telling you how great a company is, or would you rather get right down to the business of determining if this company has a solution that will work for you? Apply what you have learned from that little exercise.
Fourth, remember always that a customer will only come back if the service they received was adequate. Customer service and product support is the most important part of running a company. Make sure you use your video to market your customer service department.
If you remember that your customers are people like you, not money trees, and you treat them with the respect you desire, you will earn their trust and they will be more likely to buy from you.
