Video Accessories – Add On’s For Video Conferencing

If you are into video-graphy there are many things you will decide you need in order to make the best video, like the professionals boast they can produce with their eyes shut. Well you don’t want to film with your eyes shut if you are a beginner, but you will need to have some of the high tech video accessories to assist you along the way. These accessories can be anything that will add on to your camera and turn out better pictures in the end. Some of these accessories may be video camera stands, better viewfinders and wider angle lenses other video accessories are different microphones and a set of headphones, a tripod and a carrying case, and various adapters, filters and cables to name but a few.

If you need to make good video you will definitely enhance the quality of the film if you have good quality audio to go with it. There are many different kinds of microphones you can use with a digital camera. These include a microphone built into the camera, a shotgun microphone attached to the top of the camera, a handheld microphone you connect to the camera, a lavaliere or clip-on microphone you connect to the camera externally, a boom microphone you connect to the camera or a wireless microphone. There are many video microphones that you can get from leaders in the industry such as Tandberg or Sony the better the quality of the microphone the better your video will be.

Now you cannot have a microphone and not have some sort of connectivity for it and the camera. To connect a microphone to your video camera you need a cable. These cables are called XLR cables. The XLR cable has a 3 prong connector (male) on one end, and a connector with 3 holes (female) on the other. If you are using a handheld microphone, push the female end of the XLR cable into the end of the microphone cylinder and you are ready to record quality sound. Usually there’s a little button to push down so the cable can be inserted. You will hear the cable snap into place when you insert it into the end of the microphone. Be careful not to force the cable into the camera if it is not fitting you may just need an audio adapter for the camera into which you plug the XLR cable.

Remember the first time you came back from a video shoot and discovered there was no audio on the tape because you didn’t plug in the microphones properly, you will know just how essential it is to have a pair of headphones for your camera so you know if the camera is recording sound or not. Headphones are also useful when you need to make adjustments in the volume level. Apart from these essential video accessories there are other accessories such as video camera stands, video monitors and their associated accessories and the software that allows you to make the editing of the video more fun and professional. Though the list of video accessories is unending there are a few essentials you must have if you want to make it to the grade of ‘Pro’.
