What is a powerful video that is likely to change a persons perception about factory farming?

18
My Dad is willing to view any video of graphic nature, he is a meat-eater, I would love for him to become vegetarian or vegan, I am looking for a slaughterhouse video that might also show the disgusting contamination of poultry and other animals by fecal enmities, etc. (I know there are SEVERAL more)

Thank you
thanks to all of you that actually answered, lol, i am NOT trying to convert him, just EDUCATE, theres nothing wrong with telling the TRUTH

I can’t work up the guts to watch it, but I’ve heard it’s amazing and very insightful about just this topic…it’s newer and it’s called FOOD, Inc.

Try the movie “Fast Food Nation”. It’s got quite a bit in it about meat. There’s quite a bit of graphic slaughtering in the end and all sorts of facts during the movie itself.

If I were you I wouldn’t try to “convert” your father. Converting other people to your beliefs is malicious, manipulative, and it NEVER EVER EVER works out in the end for the converter or the converted.

What gives you the right to tell people what to do?

Every day, a staggering number of animals are butchered for human consumption all over the world. But while we eat them in their tens of millions, we really know very little about how they cope with the lives we force them to live.

Its more of a full length movie, but absolutely moving. Its called “Earthlings” and lots of people have become completely vegan from watching it. Try it out, there’s plenty of websites to watch it free on the internet.

I can’t recommend “Food, Inc.” and “The Earthlings” enough. Both are well filmed and very compelling. Another one that is a bit trickier to find was the HBO documentary “Death on a Factory Farm”.

The problem with those videos is that they don’t depict the truth about the farms. Those videos are not the norm. There are videos of parents abusing their children, does that mean all parents abuse their children? No it doesn’t. I can say this because I have personally been to factory farms, dairy farms, grain farms, livestock auctions, pig farms and chicken farms. I have seen it first hand, and I have also seen some of the videos everyone talks about in this section. I have not witnessed anything at any farms that comes even close to what is in those videos. Do animals die, Yes. But they are not tortured or skinned alive. All the farms I have been to are very clean. At the slaughter houses their are inspectors there at ALL times. There are big fines for breaking the rules. Big company’s don’t like big fines, they make the profit margin go down. They have nothing to gain and everything to lose by breaking the rules. So the bottom line is that farms are not pretty, but they are NOT what is depicted in those videos.

As much as I **** PETA for some things, their “Meet your Meat” is the most powerful and shocking video I’ve seen on factory farming. You can watch it for free on their website, or order your own copy (they sent me one free).

I’d most definitely start there…

Earthlings defiantly, but it is very long. We just watched this today at school: There are 3 parts, part one two and two and a half. It gets a lot of points across, but i don’t like how it trys to promote free range eggs and local farmers

Since my copy and paste isn’t working properly I’ll just tell you steps.

Step1: Go to
Step 2: Search in “Meet your Meat” and it should be the very top
Step 3: Get ready to find out the painful truth

The videos mentioned by other posters are fine if your intention is to shock your father in the hope of converting him but which you said is not your purpose. Realize that the intention of the makers of the films is precisely that: to convert people into being vegetarians and vegans because that’s is the purpose of those groups. Those films containing old clips and some even taken from other countries are no more representative of the US meat industry than a film about a mugger being representative of all New Yorkers or a an abusive soldier representative of the whole US military. Think about it: would you use a film produced by Al Qaida which speeches by Osama bin Laden to “educate” people about the real Islam and the “evil” US?

Food, Inc.
Earthlings
((both of the above are full-length movies… Food Inc is on tvshack.net, but I’m pretty sure that you have to order the dvd of Earthlings))

Meat Your Meat
((yes, a PETA production, but the video is exactly what you’re describing… it shows a lot of the “worst of the worst” in the production of animals for food… it’s online via the peta “tv” or “multimedia” on their website))

There is a movie called Earthlings, you really need to see it! It is the most violent movie ever, except it is all true! It is Truly inspirational and I HIGHLY recommend it.
