How do I transfer a video from one computer to another using a dvd disc?

2
I transfered a vhs video onto a computer then burned a dvd of it. I then put the dvd into another computer and it played perfectly fine. But how can I then transfer that dvd video onto my new computer? I want to use it for a final cut express project I am working on.

The easiest way and one which I use all the time is flash drives. They are cheap and use them over and over.

You’ll need to use a DVD ripper to get it back off the disc and in a format that you can use with Final Cut. You can probably find a suitable ripper by typing ‘free dvd ripper’ into a search engine, or you may already have one on your computer.

It’s a shame that you couldn’t originally transfer the VHS to the computer you want to work on though. Each time you change the format of a video/song etc., you lose quality. Which means that by the time you will have the video imported into Final Cut, it will have gone through 5 different transfers (TV-VHS-Computer-DVD disc-Computer-Final Cut) as opposed to 3 (TV-VHS-Computer-Final Cut). The difference is usually pretty noticeable. Something to think about when planning future projects.
