How do you record PS2 gameplay directly to a video camera?

Right now I have my PS2 connected to video/audio in, and my video camera connected to audio/video out. I have an S-Video cable to connect my VCR to the TV. But when I start playing, all I see is the default blank screen from the VCR. How do I get it to show the PS2 gameplay and not the blank VCR screen? And after I do that, how do I actually start recording?
