How can I become a music video producer?

I love music videos. And sometimes I like to just sit in my room, listen to music, and imagine what video i would make to that song. I would really love to sit down with an artist and just talk to them about their upcoming music video. What is this called? What do I have to major in to be it? And Is it possible to do it anywhere near alabama or do i have to move to like LA?
