How do you create a youtube video of you playing xbox 360, without using a video camera?

ive seen many videos of people playing their xbox on youtube, i was wondering how they got the data to their computers or at least how they filmed it. none of them used a video camera.
my dvr box runs through the cable then to the tv, not like a screen capture. i got a tivo box, could i run my 360 through there?
