As long as it is PCI-Express. Your good

Prices on video cards can also vary in price from $50 to $600 id say with the current technology get something between $75 an $150 for you basic usage. If your doing extreme gaming then $250 to $600.

There are also 2 leading video card brands. (nVidia and ATI) Use the same brand as previous or you can fry your computer. Yours is a nVidia so get a nVidia card.

Your computer specs

The GPU in that computer is NVIDIA® GeForce® 6100 GPU, what do you mean by it went out? If I understand correctly that video card is integrated with the motherboard, if the video card stopped working then there is something wrong with the motherboard.

You should consider taking it to a technician to check it out, however that is not necessary. It is may occurred that the GPU just went bad and leave them motherboard still working. But I’m not so sure of that.

Most likely the motherboard in the computer will have atleast one PCI express x16 slot. That is where most new video cards will go. You may consider buying an nVidia 8800GT, 9600GT or 9800GT which are fairly cheap and don’t perform bad at all.

Installing a video card is not so hard, I recommend you watch some Youtube videos that may be able to help you.

Note that installing a new component may require more power from the PSU, as you will need to upgrade PSU also. Which will require you unplugging all the power cables from the motherboard, drives, etc.

emachine T6216 has on board graphics card, meaning your graphics card is on your motherboard. Therefore you cant take out the graphics card. However you do have PCI slot meaning that you can put a graphics card in yourself. As far as the graphics card selection goes, it will depend what are your daughter’s needs. If she does play games or anything just get any 40 dollars graphics card will do. Once you buy the graphics card, it will come with an installation guide.
