What type of video camera should I use?

6
I want to create an amature movie. I have a boom mike but a standard digital video camera that seems to deliver poor picture quality and movement. I know there is a great difference in a home shot video camera and a production quality movie, i just don’t know what that is. Could someone suggest an affordable camera that could deliver movie quality video?

The person who wrote the 1st answer (CQJUAN) is a total stupid b4stard.

If you look at his profile and then look at his answers, he always writes stupid answers yet complains if you do the same to him!

Someone mentioned the Flip Video camera for about $100. I would also recommend the Vado Pocket which is thinner and has pretty much just as good quality. Since you have your own mic, the sound of the camera isn’t a big deal.

And like others have said, it’s the cinematography that matters, not so much the camera. Of course, better cameras certainly help, but the main deciding factor is your shooting skill. Watch “Seven Samurai”. It is a superb example of a great, professional motion picture with limited technology (it was actually good technology for the time though).

Here is a link for the Vado Pocket. The main price is $100, but you can also buy it for $65.

Here is also a less expensive version of the Flip Video:

However, if you’re looking for a better quality camera, the following is a good bet:
