Can a video file on usb be watched on tv? How do I transfer video files from dvd to usb?

I know that I can add video to a usb . But how do you do that and how many hours can a 4gb usb hold. Will it be the same quality as the dvd? I have a lot of series that are still on tape but I’m transferring them to dvd, but i thought a usb would be better.

To archive them, you are better putting them on DVD, if not an HDD. DVD is much cheaper, and will play on anything.

If you do have a DVD player that can play files from a USB drive, you can load the episode(s) you want to load onto the USB drive as needed, from your HDD you store them on.

No no a USB most certainly wouldn’t be better. Videos and series range and vary upon the amount of space they take up. An hour of good quality video (Video good enough to play on a computer, let alone a TV) would take up roughly a gigabyte of memory. A four GB memory stick won’t hold much if you’re transferring a lot of tape to DVD. I’d stick with transferring them to USB. If you do however plan on putting them to USB they will be the EXACT same quality as if you were to put them onto DVD and if there is any difference it will be too minute to notice. If you’re transferring a lot of series then I’d stick with using DVD’s but if you have less than eight hours of footage I’d recommend buying an eight GB USB or even a sixteen one. It would be easier to carry and neater and more organized if you ask me but the quality should stay the same either way and if anything it’d sway a little more to the DVD. But I doubt the difference in quality will me much at all. It’s like comparing HD DVD’s and Blue Rays. I hope you figure out the answer to your quarry and if you need any help add more information. I hope I was able to help you and good luck.
