How can I connect my video camera to my laptop?
I have an old Hitachi video camera from 1996 and it has a yellow and white audio/video cable. I want to connect my camera to my laptop (which doesn’t have audio/video ports) in order to copy the videos from the tapes to dvd. Do I need a special wire to connect the A/V cable from my camera to one of the USB ports? What can i do? Also what’s a goood video editing program for copying video from cameras to dvd?

An A/V cable is just for you to connect to televisions. i also have an older camera from 1997, and a newer model from 2008. on one of the sides or the back of your laptop, you would need a usb cable to connect to a laptop. if you have windows, i would suggest windows movie maker.. its pretty good, has nice effects, and i always use it.
hope i helped!! (:

Hi, I think you need to buy a external video capture card with USB which can connect your yellow/white audio video cables. If you can afford to Adobe premier is the best software for capturing video. Capture always as AVI format(a lot of HD space is required but quality is very good) and then you can edit easy and can convert to many formats.
Enjoy…
